Donghai Bridge is the first sea crossing bridge in the true sense in China. The piles installed for the bridge were not only large in their diameters and long in their length but also in great quantities, which were seldom seen on domestic projects. The paper presents an overview of the installation of piles for the bridge in the inclement natural conditions in the open seas.
