The bedrock at the location where a private wharf was built in a chemical industry park is shallowly embed ded and thinly overburdened.As a result,the pile foundation for the high-pile and beam-slab wharf was built with rock embedded steel tubular piles by using the implanting method.The anchorage of the toe of the steel tubular piles was an alyzed and studied from the viewpoints of designing and construction and a method to improve the anchoring capability of the pile toes is proposed in the paper.
