The south breakwater for Huanghua Port is so far the longest breakwater built on soft soils in China It was the first time that high strength geotextile was to improve soft soils while huge amount of stone and sand materials were placed in the shallow waters in the designed working site The paper presents the new technology used in the construction of the breakwater and major construction procedures
