The paper presents a summary of the technology for construction of large cross beams for port works,analyses of the quality of the beams and measures to improve the construction technology.The paper also presents the methods to overcome the torsion of cross beams and a simplified method to calculate the walings.Recommendations are made to revise the clauses in the relevant standards in regard to the allowable thickness of a single lift of poured concrete
