Abstract:Numerical simulation of 2-D water flow in and around a cutter based on the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes
equations was conducted in this paper. The dynamic-static coupling simulation of the steady turbulent flow was calculated with
the stand k-着model and MRF model, the whole flow fields in different combinations of the cutter rotation speed and suction
velocity were obtained. The simulation of the unsteady flow was conducted on the RNG k -着model. The steady flow fields
simulated were used as the initial conditions of the unsteady simulation,in which the moving mesh technique was employed
and reasonable conclusion of the flow parameters change over time was acquired. The results are helpful to understand the flow
fields in and around the cutter, and also can give some suggestions on cutter design and dredger construction.
