Establishment of an anchorage inside a coastal container port is one of effective facilities to ease the congestion of
fairway and to improve the port service in coastal container ports. In order to improve the theoretical study of the method to
determine the anchorage area inside a port，this paper first builds a simulation model for ship sailing operations in coastal
container ports with inner anchorage to study the combination of the number and types of ships possibly using the inner
anchorage at the same time for the period under the study and to calculate the maximum area of an inner anchorage under
different mooring conditions. The simulation results and analysis conclusions provides reference for the planning, construction
and expansion of inner anchorages in coastal container ports.
