When a wind farm in built offshore，the environment where the wind turbines are erected is very complex. Scour
around piles for wind turbines will develop because of the actions of winds，waves and currents. However, the local scour depth
around the pile foundations for wind turbines is an important parameter for engineering design. The field data of scouring around
the pile foundations for the offshore oil platforms at Chengdao oil field are used to verify the two commonly used empirical
formulas for local scouring around pile foundations，and then，the local scouring depth around the pile foundations for a
proposed wind farm is calculated. The calculation results are of reference for the project.
