Abstract：This paper discusses various factors causing cracks in mass concrete，and，through selection of raw materials
（cement types，aggregates，and admixtures），reduction of hydration heat, optimizing the mix ratio and controlling the construction
process，the cracking in concrete structure for the super-large piers for the second phase of Caofeidian Ore Terminal
was successfully controlled.
