According to the monitoring and analysis of water quality and sediment before and after the ecological dredging in
Meiliang Lake in the Taihu Lake from 2006 to 2011, the effect of ecological dredging is evaluated. The results show that
dredging directly removed the contaminated sediment in the Meiliang Lake. After dredging，water quality and sediment conditions are improved and the water ecological system is recovered year by year. Ecological dredging has a significantly positiverole in reducing the internal pollution loads in the lake, controlling sediment pollution，and improving the water environment and water ecology in dredged area.
