Based on the geogrid reinforced high-embankment for Xingfen Highway of Hebei Province, characteristics of inter facial friction of different geogrids in sand are researched through indoor pull out tests. The results show that, with the in crease of cover load, sand-grogrid interfacial friction increases with the passive resistance of transverse ribs playing a major
role. Due to the multiple transverse ribs in biaxial geogrids, the geogrids produce strong interlocking with sand and biaxial
geogrids produce better result than uniaxial geogrids. The test results provide a reference for the study of the stability of
geogrid-reinforced sand embankment and the application of geosynthetics in similar projects.
