With the development of China忆s bridges，the span of cable-stayed bridges is growing and the difficulty of con struction technology is increasing, making it first to solve the problem of cable installation. Combining with the construction characteristic of Shanghai Yangtze Bridge，portal crane is used to lift up the long and heavy cable to the bridge floor and a
soft- hard combination method is selected to drive the long and heavy cable. In additional, through the analysis on its twisting
direction, the measures to obtain anti-twist of long and heavy cable is adopted. So the safety and quality of cable construction
have been improved greatly. It can provide references for other bridge buildings.
